The Glorious Homecomming

USS Constitution arrives at Boston, 30 august 1812, after she defeated HMS Guerriere.

‘News of Constitution’s quickly spread through town and throngs of cheering Bostonians greeted Hull and his crew. The Sunday silence of the Puritain city broke into exitement as the Constitution passed through the outer harbor….. the harbor seeted with pleasure boats as the big frigate proceeded up to her moorings’. At the left we see India wharf with a colonian trader moored. From left to right Long Wharf is visible with old North Church further away.

At the far right Charlestown, with the Naval yards, more in the distance.

Constitution is greeted by a armed sloop wich is firing a salute gun as a welcome.
